Prepare for your summer road trip with these 5 easy tips from Glenside Finance.
1. Sparkling clean!
There is nothing like a good clean vehicle to make you feel ready for the road. Regularly giving everything a good clean will help to keep your vehicle running smoothly as well as looking smart in the sunshine! Start with the exterior, a good soapy wash, clean the wheels & alloys. You have the option to polish/wax your vehicle too, with some good recommendations found on google. For the Interior, give it all a good vacuum getting rid of the dust & dirt from Winter. There are specific leather cleaners or car upholstery cleaners available in the market to help you really get down to detail, of course, finish off with an air freshener too!
2. Vehicle checks
Have you checked your vehicle to ensure everything is working correctly? There is nothing worse than a mid-journey breakdown when looking forward to your road trip, let alone in an unfamiliar area. Your local garage would be happy to complete a vehicle check for you and put your mind at rest to make sure everything is running smoothly.
3. Your windscreen
The last thing you need is restricted/blurred vision due to a dirty windscreen, always make sure your screen wash is topped up before beginning that long journey ahead. This is something you can do yourself or pop down to your local garage and they can help.
4. The heat ahead
Although we cannot rely on those hot sunny days in the UK, we do usually get a few weeks, hopefully! A good way to make sure you arrive/return to a cool vehicle is a windscreen sunshade, this will block the sun from the interior keeping the vehicle a lot cooler. There is also the option for the sunshades that fit the window which prove particularly helpful for the little ones travelling in the rear seats. Another way is of course, Air Con. You will want to make sure the air conditioning is in full working order to keep cool on your exciting, long summer road trip. Most local garages will be able to check the air con for you and resolve any issues that arise.
5. Road side recovery
Our final piece of advice, would be to make sure you have road side recovery included in your insurance package. Being miles away from home and in and area you do not know, it is peace of mind to know should anything happen, you will easily be collected.
We hope these tips help you on those lovely summer journeys and staycations ahead!
